Santa Rosa Community

The City of Santa Rosa is located in beautiful Sonoma County, California. An abundance of trees is a characteristic which exemplifies this fair city. Located on the edge of an alluvial plain, the City is surrounded on three sides by small mountains, some rising to an elevation of over 2000 feet above sea level. Today Santa Rosa is home to roughly 150,000 residents.

Santa Rosa History

History lovers will greatly enjoy the City, since it has been the town of choice for various famous and unique people over the years. Some of the individuals include Thomas Lake Harris who after founding The Fountain Grove community in 1885, worked with his community members in their vineyard and winery. It was an enormously successful venture, eventually shipping 200,000 gallons of wine annually throughout the world. Luther Burbank, the famed horticulturist, made his home here for more than fifty years and it was here that he conducted plant-breeding experiments that brought him world renown. His home and gardens are open to the public. Robert Ripley, an adventurer, world traveler, radio and television personality (best known as the creator of "Ripley's Believe It or Not"), grew up here. And Charles Shultz, the creator of the Peanuts gang comic strip lived in Santa Rosa for over 40 years.
